Pope's trip to Scotland, England will be his 17th outside Italy

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — Pope Benedict XVI’s Sept. 16-19 trip to Scotland and England will be his 17th trip outside Italy since the beginning of his pontificate in April 2005.

The previous trips have been to:

— Spain, July 8-9, 2006.

— Germany, Sept. 9-14, 2006.

— Turkey, Nov. 28-Dec. 1, 2006.

— Brazil, May 9-13, 2007.

— Austria, Sept. 7-9, 2007.

— United States, April 15-20, 2008.

— Australia, July 12-21, 2008.

— France, Sept. 12-15, 2008.

— Cameroon and Angola, March 17-23, 2009.

— Jordan, Israel and Palestinian territories, May 8-15, 2009.

— Czech Republic, Sept. 26-28, 2009.

— Malta, April 17-18, 2010.

— Portugal, May 11-14, 2010
