Serrans present Christian Leadership Awards
FORT WAYNE — The 2010 Christian Leadership Award winners from Bishop Dwenger and Bishop Luers attended a luncheon in their honor on May 7. Principal J. Fred Tone from Bishop Dwenger and Pastoral Minister Sue Mathias from Bishop Luers introduced their students and their achievements at the respective schools.
Bishop Dwenger senior Stacey Litchfield, who is a parishioner at St. Mary of the Assumption in Avilla, has been an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist there. She was also instrumental in starting the Rosary Club and has been a member of the school orchestra. Litchfield plans to attend the University of Saint Francis.
Bishop Dwenger senior Luke Berg is a parishioner at St. Joseph in Garrett and a member of the Rosary Society, volunteered at St. Martin’s soup kitchen and leads the prayers every Thursday morning at the abortion clinic. Berg plans to attend the University of Dallas for political science, followed by the University of Notre Dame for law school.
Bishop Luers senior Miranda Jackson is a member of St. Therese Parish in Fort Wayne and has been a leader on the junior/senior retreat team, Key Club and a peer minister. Jackson will be attending Indiana University-Purdue University this fall to study social work.
Bishop Luers senior Michael Welling from St. John the Baptist, Fort Wayne, was a peer minister, member of the liturgical choir, junior/senior retreat team member, senior class president and valedictorian. Welling plans to attend Purdue University in the fall to study computer engineering.
