Romero Days 2018: “Memorializing Martyrdom: Romero’s Beatification and Our Task Today”
A Mass will be held in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Friday, March 23, at 5:15 p.m., presided by Bishop Mario Dorsonville, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington, D.C. The keynote address will be given by William T. Cavanaugh on the twentieth anniversary of his book, “Torture and Eucharist: Theology, Politics, and the Body of Christ.”
The conference will also include discussions on: Romero and racism in the United States; Reports on the publication in English of the sermons of Blessed Romero; The connection between Romero and the social and political thought of Pope Francis; The witness and assassination of Sisrer Ita Ford; and The legacy of San Romero of the Americas for civil and human rights.
