The Indiana Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic 2019 will be Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum, to provide teeth cleanings, fillings, denture repairs, extractions and oral health education to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care.
When people have poor oral health, it affects their bodies health as well – i.e. increased risk in stroke or heart attack. Poor oral health has also been linked to the death of infants, an increased risk of Alzheimer’s and increased days of missed work. The Indiana Dental Association Foundation for Dental Health’s Mission of Mercy is partnering with Matthew 25 Health & Dental Clinic and the Neighborhood Health Clinic to assist with program information and to help people to find a local dental home.
Dr. Todd Briscoe and Dr. Tom Blake are co-chairing the 2019 Indiana Dental Association Foundation for Dental Health’s Mission of Mercy. Dr. Briscoe chaired the event in Indianapolis in 2017. After that experience Dr. Briscoe reminded the Indiana Dental Association Foundation for Dental Health board that “there is more to Indiana than Indianapolis” and stated that “we have people in need in Northeast Indiana as well and central Indiana.” This grant will allow us to treat hundreds of people in two days.
