Victory Noll Sister Valeria Foltz, 105, Dies

Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sister Valeria C. Foltz, age 105, a resident of Heritage Pointe of Warren, died on the morning of Tuesday, May 13.

Sister Valeria entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on October 28, 1941, and made first vows on August 5, 1944. She served in the missions in California, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Ohio, and Nebraska. Sister Valeria returned to Victory Noll in Huntington in 2000 and shared her love for crafts and activities with the sisters.

Sister Valeria was born in Humphrey, Nebraska, on November 12, 1919, to Stephen Foltz and Mary Wemhoff Foltz.  She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Wildred, Henry, Paul, Joseph, Alfred, William, Clement, and Stanley Foltz, and four sisters, Dorothy Wessel, Philomae Zabawa, Eleanor Eisenmenger, and Ludwina Foltz. Surviving Sister Valeria are her nieces and nephews, along with her Victory Noll Sisters with whom she shared life and community for 83 years.

The vigil service for Sister Valeria was held on Monday, May 19, at the Applegate Chapel at the Heritage Pointe of Warren.

Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, at the Applegate Chapel at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Sister Valeria’s nephew, Monsignor Michael Foltz, a priest of the Diocese of Crookston, Minnesota, presided.

Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery in Huntington.
