The Living Church: The Power of the Saints – Fr. Raphael Mary Salzillo OP

Theology on Tap – South Bend
2015 Winter Series: The Living Church

Fr. Raphael Mary Salzillo, OP
is a Dominican priest pursuing a Doctorate in Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. He was born in Oregon and raised fundamentalist Protestant. After becoming Catholic when he was about fifteen years old, he had a spiritual experience in Mass that gave him the very strong feeling that God was calling him to the priesthood or religious life. While resisting that call and wrestling with his “Cafeteria Catholicism,” he earned a Bachelors of Applied Physics and then went on to earn a Masters degree. After finally making the Blessed Mother part of his life, he discerned a call to the Dominican religious order, being attracted to their emphasis on doctrinal preaching and study as well as their strong community life with a streak of monasticism.
