Living a Culture of Encounter: The Earth, Our Common Home – Philip Sakimoto

Theology on Tap – Fort Wayne
2015 Fall Series: Living a Culture of Encounter

Dr. Philip Sakimoto
from the University of Notre Dame helps us discover ways the encounter to which Christ calls us extends to all of Creation. What do we know about the current state of Creation? What is the relationship between human beings and the world around us? How are we called to live a life of encounter that honors God’s Creation and the common good? Using Pope Francis’ recent encyclical “Laudato Si'” as a guide, we will discuss how embracing the culture of encounter can help us answer these questions about the Earth: Our Common Home. Dr. Sakimoto has a history coordinating NASA’s national space science education and public outreach program, and now lives in South Bend with his family, who are members of St. Pius X Parish.
