Holy Cross seminarians profess final vows

NOTRE DAME — Kevin G. Grove, CSC, and Gerard J. Olinger, Jr., CSC, will make their final profession of vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross at a Mass on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Bishop John M. D’Arcy will ordain the seminarians to the Order of Deacon at 10:30 a.m. in the Moreau Seminary Chapel at Notre Dame on Sunday, Aug. 30.

Kevin G. Grove, CSC, is a native of Hobson, Mont., where he attended Hobson High School and went on to earn bachelors degrees in philosophy and history, with a minor in medieval studies and an additional major in English literature from Seattle University in 2004. He entered Moreau Seminary in August of 2004 as a candidate and received a master of divinity degree from the University of Notre Dame in May 2009. He has been assigned to St. Joseph Parish in South Bend, where he will serve as deacon until his ordination to the priesthood in April 2010.

Gerard J. Olinger, Jr., CSC is the oldest of four children from Springfield, Pa., where he attended Catholic high school. He continued his studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1997 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2001 and a doctor of law degree in 2004. Olinger entered the Candidate Program at Moreau Seminary and earned a master of divinity degree from the university in 2009. Olinger has been assigned to serve as deacon at the University of Portland prior to his ordination to the priesthood in April 2010.
