Father Robert Hammond, 88, dies

Father Robert J. Hammond, retired priest of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, died Sunday, May 8, at Lutheran Hospital. At 88, Father Hammond was one of the senior priests who served in high school education at Central Catholic in the 1950s and 1960s and then in parish ministry until his retirement in 1997. He has experienced failing health for some years.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
• Wednesday, May 11, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne
Reception of the body — 4 p.m.
Rosary — 4:15 p.m.
Visitation — 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Evening Prayer Vigil Service — 7 p.m.
• Thursday, May 12, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne
Visitation — 9-10 a.m.
Funeral Mass — 10 a.m.
Burial — Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne
