St. Felix Hosts Mass for the Sick
12:30pm-2:00pm
Mass for the Sick and Troubled is held the third Saturday of each month at St. Felix Catholic Center, 1280 Hitzfield Street, Huntington, IN 46750. The Rosary starts at 12:30 p.m. and Mass is at 1:00 p.m.
Blessed Father Solanus Casey holds special significance for St. Felix and the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese because he lived for a time at St. Felix Friary in Huntington, Indiana. During his years at St. Felix, Solanus became known for his humble service, deep compassion, and spiritual counsel, touching countless lives through his ministry at the friary door. His presence and witness at St. Felix have left a lasting spiritual legacy in the local Catholic community, inspiring ongoing devotion and encouraging the faithful to embody the virtues of humility, hospitality, and unity that he so beautifully modeled. His example continues to shape the spiritual identity of the Diocese and serves as a reminder of the transforming power of simple, faithful service.
Solanus Casey lived a life marked by simplicity, suffering, and quiet faithfulness. As a Capuchin Franciscan friar, he was ordained a simplex priest and assigned primarily as a porter, welcoming visitors at the monastery door. By the world’s standards, his role seemed insignificant. Yet God used that doorway to touch thousands of lives.
Father Solanus Casey instructed the other friars to provide food, famously saying, “They are hungry; get them some soup and sandwiches”.
Before the Mass for the Sick and Troubled, soup will be served, followed by Rosary at 12:30 p.m. and Mass at 1:00 p.m.
