Holy Thursday Seven Churches Visitation
6:00pm-11:59pm
At the end of the Holy Thursday Mass, the Eucharist is placed on a temporary “altar of repose” away from the sanctuary so that the faithful can engage in quiet prayer and adoration. The Seven Churches Visitation is a tradition that grew out of this. As part of this tradition, the faithful “remain here and keep watch with me” (Mt 26:38) at seven different churches and take time at each church to meditate on the “Seven Movements of Jesus” that were made by Jesus between the Last Supper in the Upper Room and His crucifixion on the cross. During this Eucharistic Revival, you are especially invited to partake in the Seven Churches Visitation, or simply spend time before the Altar of Repose at a nearby parish. Find more information, including altar times, and a route planner, at diocesefwsb.org/seven-churches.
