Heritage of Hospitality: Breaking Open Catholic Worship and Lived Experience
7:00pm-8:30pm
Notre Dame
Cost: Free
Saint Mary’s College invites you to our second event in the Heritage of Hospitality: Breaking Open Catholic Worship and Lived Experience series.
This month: “By Your Spirit, peoples seek to meet together:” The Eucharistic Prayer as Source and Summit of Our Summons to Hospitality
Open to the community. Free parking available in the Clubhouse and Science parking lots.
As the liturgy is named the source and summit of our Christian lives, we turn to the Eucharistic Prayer that we pray together at Sunday Mass. This center and summit of the Eucharist celebration engages our daily experiences of hospitality in a way that enables us to envision and enact welcome as we flow back into our daily liturgy of the neighbor.
Dr. Richard E. McCarron, associate professor of liturgy at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, will speak about the Eucharistic prayers as an act of hospitality. Sr. Joan Stedman, CSC and Meredith Mackowicz, ‘19 will respond in a moderated discussion. This program is made possible through a Vital Worship Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, MI, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc.
