"On-line" Belonging: Ministry with Persons with Disabilities Meeting
7:00pm-8:15pm
Cost: free
These meetings are open to anyone interested in working to ensure that children and adults with disabilities receive their sacraments, have meaningful participation at Mass, in their parish communities, and in the life of the Church.
Since the formation of this “grassroots ministry” in 2014, many initiatives across our diocese have come from the inspiration and efforts of parents, parishioners, priests, parish staffs, and volunteers. This ministry of response and accompaniment often grows from the request of one individual or family and leads to opportunities that benefit many, like the Sensory-Friendly Mass at St. Vincent, FW. Our meetings serve as a forum to work on new initiatives or expand what is already in place at parishes or diocesan level.
Please join us, anytime, for the monthly meetings:
• 1st Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. On-line: contact Allison for the ZOOM link
• 3rd Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. In-Person: Archbishop Noll Catholic Center, 915 S. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46801. What Christ Suffered- Talk on the Wounds of Christ-Part 2-Dr. Tom McGovern
6:30pm-8:00pm
Fort Wayne
Cost: Free
Be the first to learn the new additions to What Christ Suffered, a Second Edition due in bookstores early 2026. The author, Dr. Tom McGovern, will give two one-hour presentations that will weave together what Jesus physically suffered and how to understand and respond to suffering.
Based on almost 40 years of research Dr. McGovern will present hundreds of photos from the Holy Land and medical reports, explain evidence from ancient writings, graffiti, inscriptions, modern medical studies, archaeology, and the Shroud of Turin to take listeners through Christ’s passion. He will address many beliefs and myths about what Jesus suffered. Did he suffocate? How were his feet fixed to the Cross? What are practical ways to respond to fear and anxiety based on Jesus’ actions in the Garden and modern psychology? What about the location of the stigmata on some recipients? How can we best respond to our own suffering based on Jesus’ 7 Last words from the cross?
See photos of the first hematidrosis patient from the U.S. and the skeleton of a newly discovered crucified victim from the Roman Empire. View a new crucifix, unlike any you have ever seen, designed by the author and German woodcarvers. Bring your questions and prepare for Holy Week in a new way!
