Behold God’s Love: A Eucharistic Musical
1:00pm-3:30pm
Portage Township
Cost: Free but ticketed
The McGrath Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame is proud to sponsor the world premiere of “Behold God’s Love: A Eucharistic Musical.” Written in honor of the National Eucharistic Revival and featuring a cast of talented South Bend performers, this three-act musical invites audiences to encounter the beauty of the Eucharist anew through imaginative portrayals of stories from Scripture.
Act I recalls the Passover, the Exodus, and the miraculous manna in the desert, which has long been interpreted by Christians as a prefigurement of the Eucharistic Bread of Life. Act II highlights different meals from the ministry of Jesus, culminating in the Last Supper and the institution of the Eucharist. Act III depicts the apostle Paul and the Christians of Corinth as they celebrate the Eucharist together and learn what it means to become the love of Christ in the world. Joyous, light-hearted, and profoundly spiritual, Behold God’s Love will inspire viewers to a deeper love of Jesus Christ, truly present in the Eucharist.

Biking for Babies
12:00am-12:00am
My name is Emily, and I am a volunteer with Biking for Babies, a pro-life nonprofit aiming to renew the culture of life by forming young adult missionaries who raise financial support and awareness for pregnancy centers.
Our missionaries ride bicycles over 100 miles a day to celebrate the dignity of every life and to spread the good news of life-affirming pregnancy resource centers who support women and families locally and nationally.
This summer, a team will be riding from Dayton, OH to Indianapolis, IN on July 9, and we think you might be interested in sharing about what we’re doing.
At large, our 2024 National Ride (July 8-13) begins from nine different locations: Green Bay, WI; Columbus, OH (two teams); Minneapolis, MN; Huntsville, AL; Albany, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; Lincoln, NE; and Charlotte, NC. Six routes converge in St. Louis, MO, and three routes end in Arlington, VA, after a lap at the National Mall. Both ending locations will feature our Celebration of Life events.
To learn more about Biking for Babies and to donate to the mission, visit our website: bikingforbabies.com.
Our team believes in a world that respects the dignity of every single life, and we are creating that world, one pedal stroke at a time. This year, we aim to raise $450,000 for pregnancy centers and maternity homes. That would allow us to provide substantial financial support for our 95 partnered pregnancy centers!
If you can share information about Biking for Babies with your Diocese, the Respect Life office, your parishes and parishioners, and followers we would be so grateful.
This box would not accept the link, but we do have our 2024 PR Toolkit, which includes a press release, pictures, and additional information about our mission. This can be emailed to you. Please reply to this email if you are able to share our mission and if you have any questions. Our team is available for an interview at your convenience.
Thank you!

Theology on Tap
6:00pm-12:00am
Fort Wayne
The Theology on Tap series, hosted this summer at the University of Saint Francis, will bring young people from across Fort Wayne together as they dive deeply into the themes centered on finding Christ in various aspects of faith and life. The series planned by a team of local young adults, entitled “The Paradox of the Christian Life”, will offer a weekly talk by a local follower of faith and the opportunity to enjoy food, drink, and fellowship. Individuals of any faith or non-faith are encouraged to attend.
There will be one talk each Tuesday from July 9th – July 30th at the University of Saint Francis Cougar Den (Student Center). Food and bar service opens each week at 6:00 PM, and the week’s talk will begin at 6:30 p.m. On August 6, there will be a closing Mass at 6:00 PM at the University of Saint Francis Chapel followed by a closing celebration in Achatz Hall at 6:30 PM. The event is generously sponsored by the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. Dinner will be available for purchase at a discounted rate, $8 thanks to their support.
The goal of this series is to help young adults navigate an increasingly complex society and equip them with resources to be better Christians in a secular world. Our society and culture are often dominated by “either…or” extremes by which individuals are expected to define themselves. Even within the Church, this temptation to be “either…or” exists. But what we see revealed in Jesus Christ is that to be a follower of His is to live a paradox – to hold two things that seem opposed in tension, and allow the Holy Spirit to purify and animate our life in that space – which is often referred to as the “both…and” of Catholicism. Each of the series talks will focus on a “both…and” theme that young adults encounter regularly, and will offer guidance on how to live this paradox in imitation of Christ, who is both God and man and reveals to us what we are created for.
On July 9, Marie Heimann will share how both joy and sorrow are intertwined in the Christian life. The paradox between joy and sorrow is often misunderstood: when faced with great sorrow are we to put on a brave face and act like everything is fine? Or are we called to enter in more deeply somehow? This talk will delve into a more authentic understanding of what joy is and how joy and sorrow are not opposed and can exist simultaneously, as well as how we are called as Christians to respond to the experience of suffering when we are in the midst of it ourselves.
Marie Heimann is a Fort Wayne artist and shop owner of Fawnly. She works at the local YLNI farmer’s market and is on Etsy. Her work merges her passion for her faith, mental health, parenthood, and all the messiness and beauty within them. She is a mother of five boys ages 11 to 1 and also two children in heaven. Marie is married to Cory Heimann who is a creative director and together they are working to raise a family of wildly creative minds!

On July 16, Nathaniel Binversie will share what it means to be waiting on the Lord and actively serving Him in our present season of life. The paradox for Christians is between the reality of our freedom to choose, which is a gift from God, and knowing that God has a purpose for each of our lives. How do we wait in hope and expect God to make His will known to us without becoming complacent or afraid to act?
Nathaniel Binversie is joyfully married to his wife Sherry. Nathaniel and Sherry are grateful to be on mission together with their three children: Lucia, Annie, and Catherine. As the former Director of Mission for Exodus 90, Nathaniel is best known for taking Exodus from an attractive three month ministry tool, to an effective three year formation platform rooted in the timelessness of spiritual tradition. With a zeal for souls Nathaniel also offers what he has learned to others through speaking engagements and mission consulting. Today, Nathaniel is working on a formative content series to aid men in starting effective and lasting men’s groups at their local parishes as well as producing ongoing discipleship style formation content for young adults.

On July 23, Father Mark Hellinger will share what it looks like for disciples of Jesus to live as citizens of Heaven and citizens of earth’s particular societies. The paradox for Christians is to find the balance between being concerned with the good of our fellow man on earth by working for a more just society through active citizenship (such as voting), and also recognizing that we cannot expect to form a perfect society here on earth because the true Kingdom and homeland for us is Heaven. How do we live in this tension in imitation of Christ?
Father Mark Hellinger was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is the youngest and only son of his family, with three older sisters and many nieces and nephews. After graduating from Bishop Luers High School, he entered seminary. He finished his philosophy studies at Marian University and Bishop Simon Bruté Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana and completed his STB in Sacred Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome in 2021. He was ordained a priest in 2022 and completed his STL in Dogmatic and Sacramental Theology at the Pontifical Atheneum of St. Anselm in Rome in 2023. He is currently the Parochial Vicar of St. John the Baptist, Fort Wayne and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saint Francis for the Fall semester of 2024. He is passionate about theology and teaching and enjoys reading, cooking, sewing vestments, and hanging out with friends.

On July 30, Stacey Huneck will share how we, as disciples of Jesus, live in the tension of authentically sharing the Gospel with people who may not know Jesus personally. Many young adults experience the challenge of having friends and family members who do not share our Christian faith. How can we walk with those we love in authentic friendship, and yet be unafraid to share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ with them in both confidence and humility?
