The Epiphany Candlelight Choral Festival resumes this year at St. Monica Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 4 p.m. Admission is canned goods for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Choirs from St. Monica, St. Bavo, and St. Joseph will be featured with all of the choirs singing together as the finale. Assembly participation is part of the fun. A reception will follow in Columbus Hall.

Epiphany Concert at St. Therese Church

In celebration of the Christmas Season, an Epiphany Concert will be held Sunday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne. The concert is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Music Director, Beverly Rieger, the concert will feature Allen Goebbert, guest organist; David Ling, guest violinist; Lexie Signor, guest trumpet; and Renee Gonzales, guest vocalist.
Also featured will be the St. Therese choir, guitarists, cantors and flute. The pastor of St. Therese is Rev. Matthew Coonan.
The Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ is on Jan. 6. (In most countries and dioceses, the celebration is transferred to the Sunday between Jan. 2 and Jan. 8, inclusive). It is one of the oldest Christian feasts.
Epiphany comes from a Greek verb meaning “to reveal,” and all of the various events celebrated by the Feast of the Epiphany are revelations of Christ to humanity. (Readings: Isaiah 60:1-6; Psalm 72:1-2, 7-8, 10-11, 12-13; Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6; and Matthew 2:1-12).

The St. John the Evangelist Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a chili cook-off for parishioner Jack Woodiel.
Fourteen-year old Jack was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer called embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma and is undergoing chemotherapy.
The chili cook-off will be held Sat. Jan. 14 from 5-8 pm in the Deacon Art Bleau Center (school gym). Cost for adults is $10, ages 6-10 $5 and children under five are free. Drinks and desserts can be purchased for a cost of $1 each.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Woodiel family for help with medical expenses.
