Come learn about the charisms, or gifts of the Holy Spirit, given to all the baptized for the building up of the Kingdom of God in service to others. Discerning our charisms helps us to recognize how God calls and equips us for Christian mission. You will have the opportunity to take the Spiritual Gifts Inventory and to learn about 23 common charisms, and to focus on discerning your own. The workshop (Friday evening and Saturday) will utilize a series of videos, small group discussions, and follow-up with a one-on-one interview. Participants will then be given an opportunity to discern a charism more deeply with others during the weeks of Lent. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.

An interpreted for the deaf will be present this Sunday, February 23 at the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St., South Bend, IN 46613. An interpreter from Community Services All Deaf (CSAD) provides ASL (American Sign Language). St. Matthew Cathedral Parish and the Diocesan Deaf Ministry offer these monthly Masses (on the second and fourth Sundays) and encourage people to extend the invitation to family and friends who are deaf. Dr. Carolyn Yauyan Woo will be the guest speaker at the 2020 Servus Omnium, presented by the University of Saint Francis.
Dr. Woo will speak on “Business as a Force for Good” at the breakfast event, which begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the USF Robert Goldstine Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Dr. Woo currently serves on the boards of Aon Corporation, NiSource, Inc., and Arabesque Partners. In 2017, she was named the Distinguished President’s Fellow for Global Development at Purdue University. She is former president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services and former dean of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.
Dr. Woo helped launch the Principles for Responsible Management Education for the United Nations Global Compact. She formulated the first two Vatican Impact Investing Conferences in 2014 and 2016 and coordinated the dialogue on the environment between energy and investment company CEOs at the Vatican in 2018. Dr. Woo’s faith journey and work at Catholic Relief Services are recounted in her book, “Working for a Better World.”
